Last week I spent two fantastic days with Ria Sharma, the founder of Make Love Not Scars, a NGO in India that assists women who have survived acid attacks. With us was Miss Reshma Qureshi, an acid attack survivor who took NYFW by storm. We had a great time dining out, sharing stories and getting ready for fashion week and ultimately.. getting to see Reshma kill it on the runway!

This Friday I embark on a trip to Kenya where I will be photographing children's homes who need shots and photographing/blogging for a beautiful site called We Want Peace. For WWP I will be highlighting people doing great work on the ground! It's going to be so cool to be around and learn from people making things happen. .. There is also a photo essay I would like to start but I am unsure I will be able to get the access I need.. so I will keep the photo essay in my pocket until I can rock it out.. but I will say this, my fingers are crossed!! I have been to Kenya before, last in 2008 (and before that in 2006) and I can't wait to get back. Kenya is very alive. It is a vibrant country. You step off the plane and you feel PRESENT. |
Did a headshot shoot on my roof today and it was FUN! Could not go to sleep tonight until I went through all the pics! Shoots like these create an opening in me to do more of them :) If you'd like to see the headshots from this shoot please check out my Facebook page! |

My main objective was to get some behind the scenes shots in what ended up being very minute amounts of available time. In three hours they had to shoot the entire 12 page short so as you can imagine it was in/out, in/out. I don't have a blimp so it was a great challenge to get usable shots in the minute or two available when not rolling/in the way. I loved the pressure of getting something good in limited circumstances! Was fun.
